Almost $1 million went across the table at city hall Monday night when the city council transferred almost $1 million at the mayor’s request to meet contractual salary obligations with the city’s firefighters.
$620,000 was transferred at the request of the mayor, from the Budgetary Fund Balance into the Fire Department Salary account, thus ending the settlement the city made with firefighters for Fiscal Year 2018 through 6/30/2018.
Another $275,000 was transferred from the same account and placed into the salary account to fund the settlement of the Fiscal Year 2017 contract for the period ending 6/3/2017.
