Becomes Legislative Assistant to City Council by 8-1 Vote
By Josh Resnek
Former city councilor Mike Mangan is the city council’s choice for legislative aid following an extensive search period for just the right candidate to perform a multitude of tasks.
The vote Monday night, it appeared, was never in question although three candidates emerged as finalists following interviewing for the sought after position.
“I am extremely pleased and thankful for this vote of confidence,” Mangan told the Leader Herald when the last vote was cast.
He embraced his daughter and shook hands with his son after the vote.
It is believed the position will pay about $50,000 a year and will include benefits as it is full-time.
When Mangan signs the offer, the city council will swear him in.
Mangan’s comments to the council prior to the vote apparently sealed the deal for him.
“This is a great opportunity for me,” he said. “I will not let anyone down and will be available every day for whatever needs the city council has.”
