The death of Charles Savage (shown above), an Everett police officer for nearly his entire adult life, marks the end of an era in the ever-changing city.
Mr. Savage was 87 when he died on July 23.
The longtime Everett Police Officer retired as a Lieutenant in 1994, his career spanning more than three decades during an era of dramatic change.
He was born here, brought up here, graduated the Everett public schools and was a Marine veteran serving in the Korean War.
Those who knew Mr. Savage recalled him as outspoken and earnest, a tough guy with a real heart, and as a man who loved his family, his friends and the city where he spent his life.
May he rest in peace.
