As we enter the end of the summer season, the mayor’s administration continues to make sure that the City offers a variety of programs, events, and opportunities for the residents of Everett.
This summer has been exceptional, from the Independence Day celebration/ fireworks to the Swan Street Park Grand Re- Opening, the Mayor and his administration have brought our community together to engage and celebrate.
The month of August is no exception. Friday, August 10th will mark the return of the City’s outdoor movies. The movie will begin at approximately 8:15PM, but attendees are encouraged to come at 7:30PM and enjoy pre movie entertainment.
The City will provide popcorn and water, so bring a blanket, chairs, bug spray and even a picnic basket and enjoy Jumanji “Welcome to the Jungle” under the stars.
In celebration of back to school, the City will hold the 2nd Annual Back to School Basketball Tournament on Saturday, August 25th. The mayor’s administration aims to provide more activities for young people. Looking to the future, the Mayor wants to offer similar activities to support young people through to adulthood.
Thursday, August 30th is also an important date to remember, as the second outdoor concert will take place at Wehner Park at 6PM with a performance by Classified. Classified’s music covers a wide range of classic hits. From the pop-rock of The
Beatles, and selections from the very foundation of rock and roll from the 50’s, right through to the classic hits of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s.
In the month of September there are also several dates to keep in mind. The end of the summer will see the return of the extremely popular event, Everett Village Fest. Village Fest, a citywide celebration, is sponsored in part by Encore Boston Harbor and The Craft Brewers Guild, it is held in Everett’s “Village Business District,” a very cool commercial destination along Santilli Highway.
The festival offers delicious tastes from several of Boston’s best food trucks, locally crafted beer and spirits from Boston’s Magazine’s 2017 Best Brewery: Night Shift Brewing, as well as Bone Up Brewery, Short Path Distillery, and Down the Road and a full lineup of music including an internationally acclaimed headlining band. This year’s headliner will be announced soon. The event will be held on Saturday, September 15th from 3PM-9PM.
Also, in the month of September, the City of Everett and Everett School Department will once again celebrate Homecoming. Join the City on the weekend of September 22nd to welcome back former students and to celebrate the community’s tide pride. More details to follow.
