Raymond Gallagher, age 82, husband of Frances A. (Rooney) Gallagher, passed away on Friday morning, September 7, 2018, at his home.

Born in Everett, son of the late John P. and Mary (Lydon) Gallagher, he was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School in the class of 1954.

He entered Suffolk University and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1960, and received his master’s degree from Salem State College. While attending Suffolk University, Raymond entered the National Guard. He started his career at Everett High School in the English Department. He retired after 37 years at the school as the Director of the English Department. During summer vacations from teaching, Raymond worked with Greyhound Bus lines as a driver for the company for over 15 years.

He enjoyed all sports, but most especially baseball, and had attended Suffolk University on a baseball scholarship.

Surviving him in addition to his wife are his children, Michael B. Gallagher of Salem, Edward J Gallagher and his partner Deborah Arno of Salem, Raymond F. Gallagher of South Grafton, Sean T. Gallagher of Salem. Brother of Mary Sullivan of Bergen eld, N.Y., Harriet Harrington of Dennis, Mass., and Joseph Gallagher of N. Reading. Grandfather of Christopher, Samuel, Sydney, Emma, John, and Lauryn; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the grandfather of the late Joseph Gallagher; and brother of the late William and Bernard Gallagher.
