Last week, Ward 5 School Committee Member Marcony Almeida Barros led a discussion with Massachusetts high schoolers about teen dating violence and promoting healthy relationships at Gillette Stadium with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, former Patriots player Andre Tippett, and Attorney General Maura Healey as part of Game Change, an anti-violence partnership between the AG’s office and the Patriots Foundation. Mr. Almeida Barros is the Director of Community Engagement for the Attorney General and assists with the Game Change program.

The goal of Game Change is to implement long-term anti-violence and healthy relationship education in Massachusetts schools, with a focus on developing peer leaders at the high school level who can provide training to their middle school counterparts. Game Change brings together students, teachers, coaches, and sexual assault and domestic violence service providers to create positive change in their schools and communities.

Mr. Almeida Barros moderated a session about what the students learned during this year’s program on how to prevent teen dating violence, how to identify other forms of dating violence, and bullying at schools. Everett High School participated in the firstyear of the program and Mr. Almeida Barros hopes bring the program back to Everett next year.
