Encore Hotel Will Be Among the State’s Largest

By Joshua Resnek

When the Wynn/Encore Hotel finally opens in June or a short time after that, it will be numbered among the largest hotels in the state according to a report published in this week’s Boston Business Journal.

Wynn/Encore at 671 rooms will be behind five behemoth hotels serving Boston.

The largest hotel in the state is the Sheraton Boston with 1220 rooms and 575 employees.

Number two is the Boston Marriott Copley with 1.147 rooms and 531 employees.

Third is the Boston Park Plaza Hotel with 1060 rooms and 514 employees.

The Westin Copley Place is number four with 803 rooms with 500 employees.

The Westin Boston Waterfront is fifth with 793 rooms and 425 employees.

The Wynn/Encore Hotel will come in at 671. The exact number of employees is as yet undetermined.

However, given the hotel’s Five Star status – Boston’s only Five Star Hotel to be – a greater number of employees will be required to keep up to that higher standard of service that is one of the hallmarks of a Wynn Resort.

The average room price for the Wynn/Encore Hotel is likely to be higher than its competition.

The competition offers larger suites at $1,500 a night.

The top five offer a large number of private meeting rooms.

It is expected Wynn/Encore’s meeting rooms will dwarf in size and number all the competition.

Interestingly, the BBJ’s hotel report did not include The Wynn/ Encore Hotel in its major listing.

Rather, the BBJ editors wrote that The Wynn/Encore Hotel will put 650 rooms on the market.
