Following multiple winless seasons, the Crimson Tide lacrosse program broke through to the win column for the first time last year.

The four wins amassed culminated in a three-game win streak to end the season.

Head coach Anthony Genualdo is looking for his team to carry over that momentum and keep the streak alive in Monday’s season opener against Winthrop.

“We ended last season right ,picking up the schools first wins and the win streak, now we got to find a way to carry over some of that success,” said the second-year head coach.

“We got a lot of athletes that can help us [this season], but we gotta turn them into lacrosse players,” said Genualdo, who picked up a crop of new, inexperienced lacrosse players from both the hockey and football teams at Everett High School to help continue charge.

Included in that bunch is the school’s starting quarterback, sophomore Duke Doherty, who led the Tide’s football program to the division one playoffs as a freshman and brings extra speed, relentlessness to the team. He will be relied upon to provide some extra offensive production.

Also coming over from football are seniors Giovanni Raduazzo and Declan Smith. Coach Genualdo says both players will add “toughness” and a “more physical pressure” to the defense. Junior Tash Richardson, a hockey player for EHS, will also be playing his first season for Genualdo, who credits the athlete with adding more vital speed to the team.

“Lacrosse is know as the fastest game on two feet, so having speed on our side is important,” said Genualdo.

Senior returning starters Nick Snook and Jason Suppa will be a big part of what’s next for the program as they look to improve upon last season’s 4-10 overall record.

Snook is the team’s most experienced defender, while Suppa has been with the program all four years. Suppa tallied his 100th point (goals and assist) last season and told coach Genualdohe is looking to finish his careerwith double his current total.
