The Crime Begins

According to Officer Dave Procopio, State Police Director of Communications, several crimes have already taken place at the casino and arrest were made on opening day for cheating, drugs and recently for assault.

Here’s the opening day crime report:

  • Two men were charged with cheating and conspiracy after being observed cheating at a roulette table. They were JANKELLI S. VOLQUEZ, 27, and HECTOR HERNANDEZ, 66, both of the Bronx. NY.
  • Another person was arrested for disorderly conduct.
  • Another person was arrested for trespassing.
  • Another person was issued a summons for possession of heroin.

Since then there has been one more arrest: JIBING ZHANG, 28, of New York, NY., has been charged with disorderly conduct and assault and battery on a police officer at approximately 2:50 a.m. June 25, 2019.

Troopers observed two women involved in a verbal argument inside the casino. While the Troopers attempted to quell the disturbance, Zhang, a male acquaintance of one of the women, allegedly assaulted one of the Troopers and was placed under arrest.

He was booked at the State Police-Medford Barracks.

Encore Casino had no comment on the matter and asked the press to refer to the Everett Police.
