In the words of the Jurassic Park character John Hammond, “We spared no expense,” when talking about the fictional park in the said film, the same can be said about how Wynn has treated its new resort,Encore Boston Harbor.
The resort boast art in every corner your eyes can see, from the Jeff Koons’ mirror-polished stainless-steel stature of Popeye to venetian glass chandeliers and art decorating almost every ceiling surface. A impressive garden with a Preston Bailey carousel made of 83,000 flowers and 11,000 jewels, greets patrons as they enter the resort. The flowers are real and kept up daily.
There is even a garden on the roof that can be seen by guest working out in the fitness center.
Italian, American, Asian and local foods are available to satisfy every taste bud. From a bar that serves just local brews, including Everett’s own Night Shift Brewery, to the steak house Rare, that serves up spectacular Kobe Beef flown in from Japan that will make your taste buds explode with flavor. You will be happy with any meal you choose to eat.
WynnwillbuyoutsomeJapanesefarm’sstockjustsonooneelsecan have that product. They want to offer food and drinks and an experience you can’t get anywhere else.
The hotel spa greets you with flavored air, (Encore uses four scents throughout the resort) a sweet herbal smell, made to relax you. Menand women have separate sides that are mirror images of each other. Each side is designed with a fusion of Roman/Greco and Asian art.
To relax you, the spa offers a salon, steam room, sauna, hot/cold tubs and massages as well as robes, slippers and everything you stand to expect from a high end spa.
The gaming floor itself is the largest Wynn has ever built and it includes slots table games as well and private high-roller suites for those who have the funds to have their the own private pit boss and game.
The hotel does offer credit but only after an extensive review of the applicant. Encore food and Beverage executive director Warren Richards explained it as, “What is a million dollars to me, is a dollar, or a weeks pay to another. It’s all relative.” In other words they won’t just hand out credit lines unless they think your lifestyle and budget can afford it.
The rooms at the hotel are something out of a sci-fi film. Completely controlled by Alexa, you can control your room just by talking to the device. Lights, tv and shades, all controlled by voice command. There is also a tablet on the bedstead that is a personal valet that can be used to order food and other room service needs. The rooms also boast floor to ceiling windows and great views of the skyline both facing Boston and facing the north.
As far as children go, I would say leave them at home or get a babysitter. This is no place for kids unless your just out to take them to the buffet for dinner at $40 a person or lunch at $30 a person. There is no arcade for them or other activities to keep them busy, nor is therea resort pool.
There is a night club where you can dance under a 30’ tv as lasers and lights pulsate away. Shaquille O’Neal is scheduled to DJ there Thursday night. The club will also host parties and watch events for major Boston sporing events like the World Series or Super Bowl.
With that said, you will have to choose your way of getting there. If you live in Everett, your best bet is one of the Casino shuttles or tojust uber there.
