By Josh Resnek

Last Wednesday at 5 p.m. was last call for having one’s signatures certified in order to have your name placed on the ballot.

According to official records kept by the Election Commission, there are presently 11 certified candidates for the at-large race.

In addition, there are races in Wards 2, 5 and 6.

On the School Committee side last minute certifications have produced races in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6. In the at-large School Committee contest there are presently 7 certified candidates for three possible seats.

All things considered, the coming municipal election season should be a lively one.

The Leader Herald received several calls from concerned citizens who said they had heard that one or two of the certified candidates were going to challenge the Election Commission’s certifications across the board. According to the Election Commission, this has so far not occurred.

And if it did, it is highly unlikely any certified candidate would be decertified based on several in accuracies being discovered, according to the Election Commission.
