Everett Man Gunned Down at Local Lounge Saturday Night

By Josh Resnek

A deadly shooting in front of the Karma Lounge in Glendale Square Saturday around 1 a.m. has shocked the neighborhood.

Jarrod Harris, 47, of Everett was allegedly shot twice in the chest during an altercation that apparently began inside the Karma Lounge – a hookah lounge – and spilled out onto the sidewalk.

It ended with Harris being shot twice during a barrage of gunshots and then staggering to the opposite side of Ferry Street where he collapsed on the sidewalk.

He was aided by good Samaritans until an ambulance arrived and rushed him to the Massachusetts General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have arrested 29-year-old Charles Demos, of Rochester, New Hampshire.

He was arrested Sunday in Seabrook in connection with the shooting, according to police.

Demos will be arraigned in Massachusetts on murder and other charges at a future date, according to court officials.

Harris, according to witnesses interviewed by the police, was leaving the bar with a woman when a fight broke out between the couple and several individuals.

A spontaneous candle and flower sidewalk memorial sprouted where Harris collapsed on the sidewalk in front of a small store near to the corner of Broadway and Ferry Street.

Police are investigating what exactly led to the shooting.
