The Jewish New Year is Again a Moment to Ponder our Existence.

The holiday began Sunday evening at sunset when God presumably opens the Book of Life.

Into that book he writes who shall live and who shall die, who shall be happy and who shall be sad, who shall be rich and who shall be poor, who shall be exalted and who shall be brought low and on and on.

Jews now have ten days to cast away all their sins from the year before, which ends with the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur and the closing of the Book of Life by God.

If your name is written in, you get another year.

If not, you are no longer numbered among the living.

So this is an important holiday.

We wish all our Jewish residents of Everett a very happy new year. And we wish all our non-Jewish friends and neighbors good health in the coming year.
