The Crimson Tide ended their season not in the way they started – and that’s a good thing.

On Thanksgiving morning, Masconomet Regional came into town and was handed a plate full of Crimson as the Tide rolled to a 41-7 win. The meeting, their fourth straight T-Day matchup, has been one-sided, with Everett taking all four games in convincing fashion (including 32-0 win last year).

And after suffering a disheartening loss to open the year, second- year head coach Theluxon Pierre is able to say his team bounced back and completed a winning season, albeit without a super bowl title, the right way.

“To be honest, I’m very proud of the kids, but growing up in Everett, this is a disappointing season,” Pierre said, noting the referee mishaps that marred another successful year on the field of play. Two years in a row controversial calls in the playoffs helped to bounce the Tide (8-3) from another run at the super bowl.

In his second year as head coach, Pierre now owns an overall record of 18-4, including two conference championships.

“I am still very proud of the student athletes, they played hard all year and did everything we asked, especially the senior class, but we now need to evaluate what we did well and what we didn’t and go from there, said Pierre, who stated “It’s December and I’m already looking into next year.”

And If you’re already looking into next year like coach Pierre, there’s

reason to be optimistic with the return of three star players on offense, including quarterback Duke Doherty, wide receiver Tyrese Baptiste, and running back Jaden Clerveaux.

“All three of those guys are great players, great people, and great kids that come from great families,” said Pierre of his returning weapons. Baptiste (11 touchdowns) and Clerveaux (9 TDs) each landed in the top 20 of the Boston Globe’s division 1 leading scorers in 2019.

In his closing statement of the year, Pierre was thankful for all the support throughout the 2019 season.

“I’d like to thank all the players, administrators, the mayor, the school committee and everyone that supports Everett football,” said Pierre.

On to next year we go, Everett.
