Knocked out by Coronavirus local boxer battles back for upcoming March bout

Local boxer Shayna Foppiano is training again to pick up the gloves and get back in the ring after a Coronavirus-extended absence from the sport she loves.

Foppiano, looking to extend her undefeated professional record (3- 0-1), will fight Saturday, March 13 at the Castleton Banquet Hall in Castleton, New Hampshire at a date and time still to be determined.

With her initial opponent backing out of the scheduled bout, whom she will square-off with will be named at a later date.

The fight, due to Coronavirus regulations still in place, won’t feature any in-person fanfare but will be streamed live on the Boston Boxing Promotions Facebook page.

Foppiano, who fell victim to Coronavirus late last year, said her fight against the illness wasn’t an easy win but she is back up, better, and healthy.

“I had Covid-19 in December and I’m feeling stronger than ever!”, said Foppiano, who still, as an athlete, was served up a haymaker by Covid.

“It knocked me on my [rear end] for a month and I think I’m a pretty healthy person. It’s definitely no joke. I had to move back in slowly, but now I’m 100% back to normal and hungrier than ever,” she said.

Having defeated Coronavirus, Foppiano is looking forward to the challenge in March that awaits her, using only herself as motivation.

“I continue [fighting] to keep the mindset of proving to myself that I’m capable of becoming the greatest version of myself.”

Foppiano’s promotional crew, “Team Hollywood”, is currently looking for businesses to partner in sponsorship. Interested parties can reach her team via email at manager.foppiano@gmail.com.
