Infections among staff and students at the Parlin and Madeline English schools last week led to both of those facilities being closed Thursday and Friday.
Rather than tempt the fates by staying open, the School Department and the city’s Health Department decided to close the schools in to err on the side of safety rather than chance.
Thursday and Friday all students from those two public schools did their course work from home online without incident, ac- cording to a School Department official.
This week is Spring vacation for the public schools. Classes won’t be starting until next week.
By that time, officials expected that things will have returned to normal.
Officials said they will be carefully following all state and CDC protocols before reopening the schools after vacation.
