The Crimson Tide took care of Lynn Classical Friday, 42-12, wrapping up the abbreviated 2020- 2021 season undefeated.

In the end, a three-game season just meant three more wins for Everett High School football.

With all three victories this season coming against Greater Boston League opponents, Everett could be crowned league champions, but head coach Robert DiLoreto doesn’t believe it’s necessary.

“I honestly don’t think there needs to be a league champion in a season like this,” said DiLoreto, who expressed his joy of winning and said being a part of Everett football is a more meaningful reward for both student-athletes and coaches alike than getting a banner.

“What we were interest- ed in playing for all sea- son we did and that’s family,” said DiLoreto. The high-powered Everett offense clinched the undefeated season against Lynn Classical utilizing a sound running attack led by senior Samy Lamothe, who scored two rushing touchdowns and tossed a TD pass in the win.

The Tide were able to control the flow of the game behind sound offensive and defensive line play, which lead to an output of 42 points per game and only 10 points allowed per game defensively. The defensive intensity didn’t slow down in the finale, highlighted by Marcus Scott’s first-quarter 7-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

The shortened season most certainly left all in the EHS football program wanting more, but there is a silver lining for DiLoreto, and the Tide: 2021 features two football seasons.
