Join me and vote Fred Capone for mayor

I SUPPORT FRED CAPONE FOR MAYOR!

Everett faces perhaps the most pivotal election in our city’s history. I’m hoping by now everyone understands the character of the man who works in the corner office on the 3rd floor of City Hall. If not, Google It. To save you some effort, I’ll just tell my story:

Twenty years ago, I was a volunteer on Jarrett Barrios’ campaign for State Senate. Former Senator Barrios had an opponent in that campaign, Alderman Carlo DeMaria.

At the time, I wrote a letter to the editor of a local paper in response to an attack advertisement that was run against Senator Barrios. My letter contained nothing negative, just positive messaging for the campaign I was heavily involved in.

Once the letter ran in the paper, it was clear that Mr. DeMaria did not like the contents of the message, and he took matters into his own hands. He showed up at my husband’s work, hid in his boss’ office, and demanded my husband’s boss call my husband into the office. That is when DeMaria sprang from behind the office door and confronted my husband about “HOW HE CAN’T CONTROL HIS OWN WIFE.”

My husband at that time responded: “Apparently, my wife supports the person who is most qualified for the job.” DeMaria continued to barter with him offering that he, “Always supported your family and even bought Girl Scout cookies from your daughters.”

DeMaria wasn’t going to get anywhere with my husband because he supported my decisions to help those I respect. DeMaria left frustrated, knowing he didn’t get the result he hoped for.

Now 20 years later, his tactics are still being played out but in a new race; one for Mayor of Everett. And similarly, I am supporting the best candidate for the job – Fred Capone. Someone who is a true public servant and who will lead our city with dignity, integrity and for the benefit of all our residents.

That is why I am asking you to join me on November 2nd and vote Fred Capone for Mayor of Everett.
