Knotted at 25 by halftime, The Crimson Tide suffered a tough 5-point loss to host Cambridge Rindge & Latin Friday to open the 2021- 2022 basketball season.

Led by captain Roger Vasquez (team-high 17 points), the Tide took the an 8-point lead
into the fourth quarter but could only muster with 5 points against a stingy Cambridge (1-0) defense that forced the hand of Everett ball handlers as the Tide committed 13 turnovers total.

Everett forced Cambridge into a number of bad turnovers to start the game, but the tables turned in the fourth period as Everett’s mishaps led to 18 points in the frame for Cambridge as they topped the Tide 53-48.

Getting his first taste of varsity basketball action, sophomore big man Jayshaun Coggins provided quality minutes for the Tide in the losing effort. He finished with 8 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks.

The Crimson Tide (0-1) and coach Stanley Chamblain will match up next against Revere High School in the team’s home-opener.
