When he’s not spinning tunes at local entertainment venues and parties, Zeke Santiago (Zeke the DJ) is passing spirals to his teammates as the quarterback of the Mass Warriors, a semi-pro football team out of Weyland that competes in the New England Football League (NEFL). This past Saturday he led his team to a raucous 28-14 victory over the Somerville Chargers.

“It felt great,” said Santiago, who was 7 of 9 with 150 yards and two touchdowns. At 4-0, the Warriors are currently the number one seed in the league.

Santiago brings his experience from Chelsea, where he was a two-sport all-star for the 2005 Chelsea High School Red Devils. Santiago has been a professional DJ based in Everett for the past decade, over which time he’s also been playing semi-pro football for the NEFL.

He told the Leader Herald that playing football is more than just a hobby.

“I feel like I need to play. It’s a passion. I was debating whether or not to play this year but I just felt like I had to,” said Santiago.

His next game is Saturday at 6:30PM at Weyland High School.

Zeke is a full-time DJ in the area; he can be reached at zekethedj.com.
