Crimson Tide bounce back, blank Somerville

By Lorenzo Recupero

The 2022-23 brand of Everett Crimson Tide has arrived.

After blasting Somerville 42-0 Friday, the Tide have seemingly remedied their offensive woes from a week ago to snag their first win of the season.

“This week our team played fast, confident and disciplined in all three phases and I’m very proud of our team effort,” said Everett coach Robert DiLoreto on the quick turnaround from a week ago when the Tide’s offense sputtered, posting just 19 points in the season-opening loss.

At .500 on the season after the shutout win over Somerville (0-2), DiLoreto credits the improvement to heightened preparation. In the win, the Tide got scores from six different players, including three touchdown passes by Karmarri Ellerbe,

“We worked very hard this week on execution and performance. We challenged our players to raise their level of performance with confidence and our team responded with a very balanced offensive attack,” DiLoreto said.

Heading into the third matchup of the season, It’s senior quarterback Ellerbe leading the Tide in scoring with five touchdowns.

DiLoreto and the Crimson Tide will try for back-to-back wins Friday at home against Lynn English. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
