Midterm Election a Blur of Left Wing Versus Right Wing Ideologies; in Everett, Democrats Rule

By Josh Resnek

Here we go, again.

Midterm elections.

Will the Democrats retain power? Will the Republicans take over?

Will the results of the election be accepted by republicans who lose?

Who knows, and many of us nearly in despair about the state of American politics, the lament is: who cares.

Locally, Everett voters en masse will vote in overwhelming numbers for gubernatorial candidate Maura Healey.

This is a guarantee.

She will win convincingly and return state government to a democratic governor for the first time in many years.

She is no Charlie Baker but then, she plays a much better game of basketball than him.

The next Lt. Governor will likely be the mayor of Salem, Kim Driscoll – another former great college basketball player.

She knows what she’s doing. She’s tough and smart.

I hate to say it, but I have come to have very little interest in who the secretary of state is going to be or who the attorney general will be and who the treasurer will be and on and on.

The state political, democratic bureaucracy is as useless as the national bureaucracy.

The democrats are as transparently ridiculous as the republicans.

Our nation’s politics at this point are economically, politically, morally and socially bankrupt.

At least the ballot questions returns a sense of levity to the game.

Vote yes for question one. Who cares if millionaires are taxed at a higher rate other than millionaires? And don’t forget, nine out of ten voters and taxpayers aren’t millionaires.

Vote yes for question 2. All of us with health insurance and the pathetic dental insurance that is available know how poor dental insurance is, and how little it does…except to line the pockets of dental insurance company executives and shareholders with millions of dollars that ought to go into providing health care instead of being transferred into bulging portfolios.

Question three – alcohol licenses- this is a ballot question that makes no real sense and doesn’t matter in the greater scheme of things. Choose your poison on this one because it doesn’t matter.

Question four – vote yes. Why not? No matter how much you may hate immigrants and folks living here who are not citizens, at the very least they ought to have a license to drive and to be insured as well.

Locally, we are choosing between Joe McGonagle and Mike Marchese.

We’ve endorsed Marchese.

It’s up to you to let go of Joe.

Think about it. What’s he done for any of us?
