The Crimson Tide officially made it past the bar set a year ago by its predecessors.

With the 33-14 win over host Taunton High School on Friday, the Crimson Tide advanced past the first round of the MIAA playoffs setting up a quarterfinal meeting with Central Catholic on Friday, November 11 (7PM) at Lawrence Stadium.

A year ago, the Tide (8-1) couldn’t make it past the Round of 16, but senior quarterback Karmarri Ellerbe made sure to make the most of his second postseason start to help push the team over the top, rushing for two touchdowns and throwing for another on a 62-yard strike to Giacobbe Ward in the first half.

Ellerbe’s elusiveness provided the decisive X-Factor in the win, helping to extend the Tide’s win streak to eight games.

Damien Lackland added a 3-yard TD rush and David DeSousa retuned an interception for touchdown to cap Everett’s scoring in the win over Taunton.

In their next opponent, Central Catholic (7-2), the Tide will be facing a team that was one win shy of being crowned division 1 champs a season ago. Like EHS, CC averages over 30 points per game and allows less than 20.
