Like most of you Everett television viewers I’ve got HBO and once a week, I’ve been tuning in to “White Lotus,” one of the most popular HBO series now airing.
If you’ve been watching all along, then you know what it’s all about.
If you haven’t been watching, you should be.
If you are Everett Italian and have a love for old Italy in all its grandeur, then this series is a must.
Above all, it is great entertainment with a brilliant cast and some very crispy writing.
Sicily has never looked more gorgeous.
The scenes along the coast where only the world’s richest can afford to stay at a ritzy If you’ve been watching all along, the rich and the famous, mostly white men and women enjoying the best Sicily has to offer.
A ten day stay at White Lotus is $7,000.
That’s well worth it from what I can see.
I have friends who have vacationed there, for what it is worth. Here’s the story:
An all-star cast head to a resort and unleash their worst, most privileged impulses. The series is a sharp social satire follow- ing the exploits of various guests and employees of the fictional White Lotus resort chain, whose stay become affected by their various dysfunctions. A week in the life of vacationers is unraveled as they relax and rejuvenate in paradise. With each passing day, a darker complexity emerges in these picture-perfect travelers, the hotel’s cheerful employees, and the idyllic locale itself.
Again, Sicily as the backdrop for this series is astonishingly beautiful with its rugged shoreline, seaside cliffs and crashing waves.
Palermo is to die for, the capital of Sicilian paradise, with an opera house quite like any other and ruins and relics everywhere spread among fantastic period housing that reminds those of us who have visited Italy of what an incredible visual and physical experience that can be.
The official name of the real-life White Lotus Season 2 hotel is the San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel.
The five-star Italian resort will actually be closed from Nov. 28, 2022, to March 13, 2023. So, let’s say you want to book a room in April 2023 — one night costs 970 euros in a superior room, which roughly equals about $972. (Obviously, rates are subject to change.)
If you’d rather save some money and let the show take you away to Italy, we completely understand! New episodes of The White Lotus debut every Sunday on HBO and HBO Max at 9 p.m. EST.
