Matewsky Proposes New Public Safety Facility For Casino Development Area

By Josh Resnek

Refering to the Boston Harbor Casino and Hotel as a war zone, Councilor Wayne Matewsky proposed a new public safety facility to be located near the casino and hotel to provide police, fire and medical emergency ambulance assistance when necessary.

He made these comments at Monday night’s council meeting.

“A fire police and ambulance facility is needed and should be provided by Encore. Encore should be responsible for the new public safety building,” Matewsky told his colleagues.

MATEWSKY

Councilor Wayne Matewsky is back at home on Lewis Street following a short period of rehab at the Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge.

Matewsky, who was president of the council until he became ill in Florida, is expected to return to the council in a few weeks.

At that time, it is likely he will resume his duties as council president, taking over from acting council president Anthony DiPierro.

Matewsky is recovering from open-heart surgery after suffering a heart attack.

Recovering from a heart attack and a quadruple bypass is good news.

The bad news would have been if the heart attack got him, and surgery was not possible.

Matewsky faces months of getting back to his regular self.

“I am deeply grateful for the expressions of interest in my well-being following my illness that have come from so many people in Everett. When you are knocked down as I was, the good wishes and prayers mean more than you can imagine. Thank you to you all,” Matewsky told the Leader Herald.
