Crimson Tide roll Lynn English

By Lorenzo Recupero

The game plan for Everett High School football changes from match to match depending on their next opponent’s strengths and weaknesses, according to third-year coach Robert DiLoreto.

If the motive is striking their opponent’s weaknesses, the Crimson Tide’s game plan this past week was loud and clear: run, run, run — and run some more.

The ground-game effort made all the difference, as the Tide (2-1) shutout Greater Boston League rival Lynn English behind 5 rushing touchdowns en route to the 37-0 victory.

Crimson Tide bounce back, blank Somerville

By Lorenzo Recupero

The 2022-23 brand of Everett Crimson Tide has arrived.

After blasting Somerville 42-0 Friday, the Tide have seemingly remedied their offensive woes from a week ago to snag their first win of the season.

“This week our team played fast, confident and disciplined in all three phases and I’m very proud of our team effort,” said Everett coach Robert DiLoreto on the quick turnaround from a week ago when the Tide’s offense sputtered, posting just 19 points in the season-opening loss.

Xaverian Topples Tide In Opener

By Lorenzo Recupero

The Crimson Tide opened the season with a gut-check, 49-19, loss to visiting Xaverian on Friday.

The lopsided loss for the Crimson Tide (0-1) was result of an offensive onslaught by Xaverian, who was led by Henry Hasselbeck, the son of former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck.

Hasselbeck totaled 190 passing yards and three touchdowns and Xaverian running back Michael Oates tallied 199 yards and two TDs on the ground. Oates also snagged a 79-yard TD pass from Hasselbeck.

In the losing effort, Everett senior quarterback Karmarri Ellerbe put his best foot forward, adding two passing touchdowns in the second half of the game. Everett junior running back Damien Lackland also contributed with a 33-yard score.

C-C Oust Tide From MIAA Tourney

By Lorenzo Recupero

For the second consecutive season, the Crimson Tide were dropped from the MIAA Division 1 State Tournament at the hands of Concord-Carlisle High School.

The 2-1 preliminary round loss Friday at Concord ended a strong season for longtime head coach Stacy Poste-Schiavo and the Lady Tide, who ended the year 15-5 overall and Greater Boston League Co-Champions.

C-C outlasted the Tide, 8-6, in last year’s Div.1 North Sectional as well.

“This was a tough one because defensively our girls played amazing. Offensively, we just could not get the hits,” said Poste-Schiavo on the stinging loss.

The Tide had a chance late in the game to tie when Bryanna Mason reached first on a 2-out single in the 7th inning but could not muster more hits to bring her round to score.
