Clerveaux and Lamothe lead the way to big win

The Crimson Tide crushed Revere High School, 43-6, in the last home game of the season at Veterans Memorial Stadium Friday.

It was a special night for 12 seniors including Josaiah Stewart, Samy Lamothe, Brandon Gibbs, Tyrese Baptiste, Tyler David, Egan Gouveia, Ali Fountain, David Matthias, Brendon Previlon, Jasheem Rivera, Donrae Richardson, and RadJiwa Norestant who were cheered on by family, friends, and teammates as they donned Everett crimson for the last time.

First-year head coach Robert DiLoreto said they exemplify the strength of Crimson Tide football.

“All 12 of our seniors have been outstanding leaders,” said DiLoreto. “They have committed themselves to working hard and buying into the team mentality. I am so proud. It has been a pleasure to coach each of them,” he said.

Gridiron Flashback

In honor of all the fall football stars just waiting for their chance to pound the turf at Veterans Memorial Stadium, during the 2020-2021 Everett High School fall sports season, we are showcasing snap shots of newspaper clips from the past, each including some of the biggest names and games in EHS football history.

2018

This week’s trip back in time brings us to Thanksgiving Day 2018. The Crimson Tide, who were powered all season long by senior running back Isaac Seide (featured running into the end zone), shutout Masconomet Regional High School, 26-0. In the blowout win, his final high school football game, Seide ran for two touchdowns. For the 2018 season, he racked up 11 TDs and over 800 rushing yards. Seide is currently a running back at University of New Hampshire.

This week’s flashback takes us nearly 30 years into the past to 1991, a rough year for Everett football, but still good reason to celebrate the continued Crimson Tide tradition. Friday night lights dimmed by Covid-19 pandemic

Like an audible straight out of the unprecedented playbook, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) and Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released joint guidance for modified high school sports seasons in the 2020-2021 school year.

The guidelines, constructed to keep student athletes safer during the Covid-19 era, modified which sports could conduct full-scheduled seasons this fall, dividing each into lower, moderate and higher risk categories. The higher risk sports, including football, cheer and basketball will not have their seasons take place during the fall and instead will have “floating” schedules, which basically means all games will be postponed for a later date while players are still allowed to practice in the interim, provided paperwork stating health guidelines are being followed are submitted.

Should Everett Go Semi-Pro?

Why doesn’t Everett have a semi-pro football team?

Everett is home to Teddy Peanut Butter, McKinnon’s, multiple breweries, and now Encore Casino.

And yet we are most famous for our beloved football team, the Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide and its coaches have worked incredibly hard across multiple generations to earn a haul of high school championships, eventually becoming equally known for breeding winners as well as possessing an unmatched ability to send out a siren call to the talented athletes in our region who moved to Everett specifically to play for our division 1 program.

We’ve all grown up attending games and watching the Crimson Tide stack their championships one atop the other, and there’s signage as a reminder to everyone traveling down Route 16.
