City will allow Trick or Treating from 5-7 PM October 31

Everett’s, 41st Annual safe children’s Halloween party hosted by Councilor at Large, Wayne Matewsky, is unfortunately postponed until 2021. The Matewsky committee initiated the event in 1979 due to tainted candy, however, the Covid-19 pandemic has made this unsafe this year.

Halloween still on even with Coronavirus numbers spiking

The city has recorded an additional 100+ cases of the COVID-19 during the past seven days.

That comes to many more than 300 cases during the past three weeks alone.

The state recorded an additional 1,000 new cases with many new deaths.

In both cases, the numbers are telling a story as the numbers are growing higher than they were in June and July when they reached a dizzying height.

The story is about a failure locally for residents to stop the spread of the virus by following the guidelines set by the state.

Everett’s effort is right now failing – if the numbers mean anything.

A tour of the city over the weekend revealed city parks and basketball courts populated with young people, nearly all of whom were without masks, as the virus appears headed for a resurgent trend as the weather grows colder.

Matewsky Halloween Party # 40

Councilman At Large Wayne Matewsky & Friends started holding the Safe Halloween Party in 1979 when report surfaced that Halloween candies had been tainted, making door-to-door Trick or Treating unsafe for children. Since 1979, Wayne has annually held a Free Safe Children’s Party for the children of Everett.

This year, the Annual Free Safe Children’s Halloween Party will be held at the Schiavo Club Hall at 71 Tileston Street (Village neighborhood) on Sunday, October 27, 2019 between 2-4 p.m. There will be refreshments, entertainment, candy and prizes for the best costume, and an adult coffee table. Fun for all!

Since 1980, Wayne has annually held a Free Safe Children’s Party for the children of Everett

This year, the Annual Free Safe Children’s Party will be held at the Silver Fox II on Second Street in Everett on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m. There will be refreshments, entertainment, candy and prizes for the best costume, and an Adult coffee table. Fun for All!
