Last week, the Massachusetts Senate unanimously passed Senator Sal DiDomenico’s bill to fight childhood hunger and boost participation rates in school breakfast programs in the Commonwealth’s high- poverty schools.
Bill creates a new licensing process for student loan servicers
Last week, Senator Sal DiDomenico (D-Everett) and his colleagues in the Massachusetts State Senate passed the “Student Loan Bill of Rights,” which gives greater protections to student loan borrowers in disputes with companies servicing their loans.
The bill, S.2380, An Act establishing a student loan bill of rights, requires student loan servicers to be licensed companies with the state Division of Banks, and empowers state officials to investigate the servicers and take action against those that violate the state’s banking and consumer protection laws. Senator Sal DiDomenico (D-Everett) recently announced that the landmark criminal justice reform package crafted by the Massachusetts Legislature has been signed into law. The Senator had previously joined his legislative colleagues in overwhelmingly voting to pass this sweeping piece of legislation, and last week the Governor signed the bill into law. An Act relative to criminal justice reform will lead to a more equitable system by supporting our youngest and most vulnerable residents, reducing recidivism, increasing judicial discretion, and enhancing public safety. Senator Sal DiDomenico recently pulled nominations papers for his re-election campaign for the Middlesex and Suffolk District. DiDomenico has represented the communities of Allston-Brighton, Cambridge, Charlestown, Chelsea, Everett and the West End of Boston since May 2010 in the State Senate. “It has been an honor and privilege to serve the resident of the Middlesex and Suffolk District,” said DiDomenico. “I look forward to my re-election campaign ahead and I thank my constituents for their support the past eight years.” Senator DiDomenico has been a leader in the Senate and he will be kicking off his campaign this Spring.
Senator Sal DiDomenico will once again be hosting the Annual DiDomenico Foundation St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Friday, March 9, 2018 beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the Bunker Hill Knights of Columbus in Charlestown.
This event has become the official kick-off to the St. Patrick’s Day season. In addition to a traditional Irish dinner, the night will include Irish music, step dancers, comedy by Tony V, bag pipers, videos by elected officials and the annual presentation of the Golden Shamrock Award to a community leader.
