Great disappointment over Chiefs win at Everett Super Sunday party

My Everett home consisted of majority Philadelphia Eagles fans. Real fans, not the bandwagoners.

My apartment on Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, was a small green oasis in the middle of Everett.

Let’s face it, Sunday was a rough day if you bet on the Eagles.

My friends all bet on the Eagles.

The mood was pensive and full.

The Eagles ended a beautiful season with a 3 point Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs in Glendale, Arizona.

It was clear that most of New England wanted Patrick Mahomes to lose. This was proven by the utter lack of Eagles paraphernalia to be found on the shelves at party shops throughout the city.

On my dinner table sat a Super Bowl LVII table cloth with matching plates because that’s all that was left at the store. On top of that sat an array of food including; five different kinds of wings, taco dip, chicken broccoli Alfredo, Jalapeño poppers, garlic knots, brownies and cupcakes. I included some vegan options as a sign of the times.

Smart money betting against Mahomes

By Josh Resnek

I consider myself about the sports betting handicapper in the area.

When it comes to making sports bets, I’m like a guy going down a road who needs to turn left but instead turns right.

That doesn’t mean I can’t have my own opinion about big games like the Super Bowl coming up.

I’m told by many who claim to know that the smart money has bet on the Eagles to beat the Chiefs.

The Eagles defense is better than the Chiefs.

Mahomes will be hit again and again by the Chiefs powerful front line pass rush at a time when he’s without any wide receivers due to injuries.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts will be too much for the Chiefs defense, according to the experts.

Here’s how CBS/NFL sees the contest.

Kickoff from State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz. is set for 6:30 p.m. ET. Philadelphia is a 1.5-point favorite in the latest Eagles vs. Chiefs odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/ under for total points scored is 50. Before locking in any Chiefs vs. Eagles picks, make sure you see the latest NFL predictions from SportsLine’s proven projection model.

The Super Bowl

Al Michaels and Chris Collingsworth can talk the hind legs off a donkey. They did just that during the Super Bowl game Sunday. Collingsworth must have needed oxygen after listening to himself talk for about 4 hours.

When the Rams won, Collingsworth called the game the greatest ever and went on and on with hyped superlatives that frankly was capable of causing incontinence in most of us.

Sunday’s contest between the Rams and the Bengals was not the greatest Super Bowl game ever played.

It wasn’t even close.

The game featured two winning NFL teams at the very best level of play they are capable of in the one game where we all expect to be dazzled by sports heroics.

Tom Brady to the Super Bowl – again

“This is New England. This is a tough and nasty sports environment. Not everyone was rooting for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers to win last Sunday to gain a chance for another Super Bowl ring.”

That’s how a local sports maven described his view of the way many New England sports fans tend to think.

That being said, I believe the Leader Herald speaks for millions of Patriots sports fans who rooted for Brady the GOAT all the way Sunday.

All of us rooting for Brady agreed – the victory over Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers was about as sweet as victories can be.

Many of us shared the same feeling about the victory.

Why wasn’t this a Patriots victory with Brady directing the plays?
