Thank you Richard DelI Isola

After serving a decade of his life as a City Councilor, Richard Dell Isola called it quits before the November municipal election.

He announced he was leaving in June.

He said then he wanted to spend more time with his family.

What he didn’t say is that after ten years of being a considerate and on the ball councilor, he had had enough.

He wanted peace and quiet in his life – and now without having to answer to residents all the time, he will have what he wants.

Dell Isola was non-controversial.

He was never derisive or insulting to the hundreds of people who came before the City Council while he served.

In ten years, this writer does not recall a single moment when Dell Isola lost his cool or grew angry or combative inside or outside of the Council Chamber.

His father before him is a man like that – a gentleman always, who treats people with dignity and respect.

Like father like son.

Dell Isola presented himself as a strong ally of the mayor – and why not.

There is strength in supporting the mayor for those who choose that route.

Bottom line, Dell Isola was a calm presence on the Council.

There was very little drama with Dell Isola.

We knew him as a very nice man.

We hope he will enjoy his retirement from city government.

We wish him the best in the future.
