D’Parma’s Clams quite a treat on a summer day

I keep my boat in Winthrop at the Atlantis Marina. So I naturally eat at places in Winthrop when boating. Truth be known, my boat needs a new engine.

That’s about $6,000 bucks and it isn’t going to be replaced this year.

There is a second engine – the boat has twin Chrysler 440 inboard engines. It’s a 40-year-old 35’ cabin cruiser, with a galley and toilet and shower – a real beauty but it will not be taken out this year.

With only one engine, the boat would make circles if I took it out!

After cleaning up the boat for the season last weekend, my wife and I went out to eat at D’Parma’s Italian Restaurant, 467 Shirley Street.

We ate outdoors.

D’Parma’s is first-rate in every way.

Eating there is a delight.

These folks know what they are doing, and they have been serving great food for quite some time from this location.

I ordered up clams and linguini in oil and garlic.

The dish is $17.95 and worth every cent of that.

I got a salad with the meal.

D’Parma’s pink salad dressing is superb – a real treat on its own.

The littleneck clams served atop a heap of linguini – well – for me, it doesn’t get any better than this.

The clams were succulent, sweet, and juicy, cooked on the grill until they open and then served in a neat circle around the pasta.

The combination of tastes was swell. I could have eaten 30 clams.

My wife ate risotto with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes. Wow!

The menu is varied. You can get what you want. The service is adequate.

There is a homey feel to this waterfront Winthrop restaurant.
