Everett is coming off its first appearance ever in the MIAA playoff consolation round, a blowout 48-14 win at Acton-Boxborough. The Crimson Tide, who were upset by Central Catholic, 23-20, in the Div. 1 North semifinals, were led by Michigan commit Mike Sainristil, who caught three passes for 183 yards and three TDs. Eli Auguste caught a 22-yard TD pass and returned an interception 60 yards for a score.
Everett qualified for the post-season for the 18th consecutive year, compiling a 34-8 post-season record in that span and 36-10 overall postseason record since 1996 (24-5 playoffs, 12-5 state final/Super Bowl). The Crimson Tide have won nine of their last 10 postseason games.
Everett is 184-21 overall (.898) since 2001 — 150-13 (.920) in the regular season.
STLL GETTING ACQUAINTED: Everett has only played Masconomet three times, including at Fenway Park on Thanksgiving Eve last year, a 36-20 Crimson Tide win in which Kevin Brown rushed for 102 yards and three TDs. On Thanksgiving Day 2017, the Chieftains led, 24-22, after three quarters before Jacob Miller scored twice in the fourth to give the Tide a 35-24 win. The teams also played in the 2012 playoffs, a game won by Everett, 42-14, at Manning Field in Lynn.
DEFENSE NEVER RESTS: The Everett defense has allowed an average of only 84 yards rushing and 102 yards passing per game. The Tide have caused 18 turnovers.
DUKE IS GRAND: Sophomore QB Duke Doherty is 92-153 for 1,619 yards and 24 TDs with 6 INT.
MIGHTY MIKE: Mike Sainristil is Everett’s leading scorer (92 points) and receiver (32- 792, 12 TDs). He has rushed for 236 yards and 3 TDs, intercepted six passes, returned 11 kicks for 160 yards and is averaging 31 yards a punt.
MAKING HISTORY: With its win over Xaverian in the season opener, Everett became the first Massachusetts school to record 800 football wins. In its 125th season of football, Everett’s all- time record is 808-373-79 (.673).
