Papers due by Friday to have votes tallied again

The at-large School Committee race is not yet over.
If Margaret Cornelio has her way, a recount will prove she won the race over her closest at-large opponent, School Committeeman Joseph LaMonica.
As the Leader Herald went to press Tuesday evening, LaMonica held a 3 vote margin over Cornelio.
That margin was 9 votes on election night but later tallies reduced his margin to just 3 votes.
On Election Night last week, the Election Commission showed LaMonica having a 9 vote lead with 2,503 votes as compared with Cornelio’s 2,494.
But a counting of added provisional votes reduced La- Monica’s lead to a razor thin 3 votes.
“I’m going to do what’s right and honest,” Cornelio told the Leader Herald.
She is hoping a citywide recount will put her over the top.
She will know soon enough.
For LaMonica, well, he is keeping his fingers crossed that his vote stands.
